We are daily making every effort to minimise the impact of our business on environment by seeking optimal logistics solutions for our partners. The sector of logistics is increasing yearly and is a key factor in prosperity of the society and community. Being one of the leaders in the logistics sector in the Baltic region, Vlantana is aware of the environmental impact of its business. We are in favour of socially responsible development of business that will not negatively affect the quality of life of future generations. Understanding the nature of our business and using advanced technologies enables us to improve organisational processes and minimise environmental impact to a large extent.

Efficient logistics planning

An efficient planning of logistics processes involves substantial possibilities in reducing CO2, for example:

optimisation of supply chain management by using different transport models;

optimisation of delivery by planning an optimal route. All these enhance efficiency of freight transport with transport costs minimised for a customer;

optimisation of transport flows seeking to minimise the number of kilometres driven;

an ongoing redistribution and use of transport capacity according to countries by avoiding processes not producing added value;

overnight transportation of goods thereby reducing road traffic congestions;

working with partners in search of and offering the most rational logistical solutions.

Electronic logistics document management systems

Electronic transport control system minimises the use of paper by transferring processes into the electronic environment, i.e. transport orders, management of shipment documents, freight tracking, electronic invoicing, and analysis of transport efficiency.

The use of the state-of-the-art technologies makes processes simpler, and increases the efficiency of planning and management.

Efficient driving

Our experience has shown that behaviour of a driver can significantly influence fuel efficiency of the vehicle and emission levels. Teaching drivers of the skills of efficient driving aims at using a vehicle in an efficient manner, such as an optimal level of engine running, driving vehicle at idle, halting and gear change. Efficient driving reduces fuel costs by up to 10 %.

Alternative sources of energy

Dependence on fossil fuels such as oil products might lead to adverse effects in the long run considering that these are non-renewable natural resources which have been determined as finite. Our company aims at reducing levels of carbon dioxide emissions; we therefore have been pursuing a programme for alternative fuel use for several years now. We actively search for and use alternative fuels such as:

  • biodiesel;
  • synthetic diesel;
  • ethanol.

Fuel use efficiency systems

Innovative and renewable advanced technologies enhance efficiency of fuel consumption of our vehicles and thereby reduce emission levels. Such effect is achieved by:

  • the use of efficient engine control systems. Our company’s trucks comply with EURO 5 and EURO 6 standards and are renewed on a yearly basis;
  • the use of low rolling resistance tires;
  • periodical maintenance of available vehicles, active cooperation with manufacturers and search for the best operating practices;
  • improving the cooling system in the trucks in use.
