At the time when climate change is perking everyone is trying to make an impact by reducing their negative outcomes for the nature. Transportation industry plays a significant role in addressing the environmental challenges. The need of decarbonization presents a number of challenges for transport and logistics companies, but challenges also lead to the search for solutions.

We continue to search for sustainable solutions to reduce CO2 emission and this is where intermodal transportation appears. Intermodal transport is the key to reducing the impact of logistics to the environment.

We are constantly looking for new train lines to develop intermodal transportation, so from this summer we started intermodal transportation in a new direction Kaunas โ€“ Duisburg โ€“ Kaunas. This is a direction that has been refined thanks to the cooperation of TTLA and LTG Cargo in order to improve intermodal transportation service. This direction opens Western Europe to sustainable cargo transportation solutions. 

Meanwhile, on a Lithuanian scale, Kaunas is in many cases strategically the best place to develop intermodal transportation, which led to the expansion of our company to central Lithuania and the establishment of a branch in Kaunas. Currently, Kaunas division is focusing on the development of the intermodal transportation network, increasing the awareness and popularization of this type of transportation.

Pros of intermodal transportation:
โ–ถfewer trucks on motorways, which makes it safer on the roads and their maintenance costs are lower;
โ–ถa smaller CO2 footprint, which saves nature;
โ–ถpartially solves the shortage of drivers;
โ–ถcompanies may have more semi-trailers than trucks;
โ–ถtransports of greater weight are possible.

We hope that the intermodal transportation network will only expand, and the widest possibilities will open to fully use the service called the future of cargo transportation.
